Sometime during the first quarter is
a great time to do back-ups. One of the familiar calls we get is
that someone's corporate or personal computer has crashed and they
need to restore files. And sometimes the crash has damaged files
beyond recognition. We can reformat your computer but that means
that you will likely loose some important stuff. So please at least
once a year (twice is better) back-up your important files.
|
PLEASE take time to back up your
computer - esp. things like:
1)
Picture/movie files
2)
Important corporate &
personal documents
3)
Important Emails*
* NOTE: if you are using a mail
client like Thunderbird or Outlook/Outlook Express or Opera you will
need to back up your emails from those applications - many
stand-alone back-up applications will not include restorable email
files.

Q: Is FaceBook secure?
A: No
The good news is that more stuff is
available to help secure your personal information. But you have to
use it. The default set-ups in FaceBook are not automatically
secure. You need to do two specific things:
1) DO NOT list or give out or
put in your profile any personal information about you home
address, your personal phone or email or anything that would not
pass the "I am willing to show this to the world" test. This is a
tough one for teens also - parents and older teens need to help
their younger siblings and be sure pre-teens and young teens are
monitored
2) Check your security
settings: Log into FB, goto Account>Privacy Settings then review all
your settings and remember that depending on how you set up your
security a "friend of a friend of a friend" may see stuff that you
would not normally publish.
